‘Sheher’ listening party: hosted by Saurabh and Akshit
Lishash’s first artist created, and hosted session for the release of a single ‘Sheher’
At the stroke of the midnight hour… Saurabh Tripathi and Akshit Dhall released their single — Sheher, and then a release party on Lishash. They were introduced to the app just 4 days before this launch, when they attended another artist session by band Fourth Lane. After the session had gone on for ~3 hours, Saurabh had taken upon the role of the host, a Lishash trainee almost, and started getting well — averse with the basics of listening sessions. Soon, he scheduled a release party listening session for Sheher. This is something
and I envisioned and desired months back, for the shape artist sessions take on the app. So, this release party was a milestone for us, almost as much as it was for the artists.
We both wanted Lishash to be a platform where artists don’t come to just have their music heard by audiences, but also a platform for the wildly distinctive, unique and hear-worthy stories that each track, each collaboration and each album has. We wanted to get out of the way — where they are able to come on the app, host their own session and leave without Lishash intervention. And that’s exactly what they did for ‘Sheher’.
Saurabh (lyrics) and Akshit (vocals and piano), along with Ajay Majethia (mix and mastering) and Shivam Verma (production) are behind Sheher. Every one of us has a dreamer and adventure seeker in us, and this track appealed to that side of Tanya; the one that was ‘dominant’ pre — pandemic. It’s a track that feels like the story of so many people in our country, that could be the story of so many in our country, and that’s what I love most about it.
People poured into the session one after the other, extremely quickly, almost as though they were just waiting for the clock to strike 12:15. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was true, I know I was.
Along with the 4 folks involved in the making of Sheher, some other artists from the Pune indie scene came along, and Saurabh played music by all of them!
It truly felt like a celebration of the release of the song, but also the artists involved, and all of their body of work.
